Importing from a URL

Tap the Add tab and paste a recipe URL. Most major recipe sites are supported. If a site blocks scraping, try copying and pasting the text instead.

๐Ÿ“ท

Photographing a recipe

Use good lighting and keep the page flat. Ensure text is in focus. Multiple pages can be captured โ€” process them one at a time and combine the steps.

๐Ÿ“š

Sharing a recipe book

Open a book, tap the members icon in the header, and select "Invite". Share the link with anyone โ€” they'll be prompted to download the app if needed.

โš–๏ธ

Scaling a recipe

In cook mode, tap the serving count at the top to scale the recipe up or down. Ingredient quantities update automatically.

โฑ

Timers in cook mode

Steps that mention a time (e.g. "bake for 30 minutes") get an automatic timer button. Tap it to start counting down.

๐Ÿ“ก

Offline access

All synced recipes are available offline. Changes made without internet access will sync automatically the next time you're connected.

Frequently asked questions

How many recipes can I import per day?

Onmenu allows up to 20 AI-powered imports per day. This limit resets at midnight. Manual entry (typing recipes yourself) is unlimited.

What sites can I import recipes from?

Most major recipe websites work โ€” BBC Good Food, NYT Cooking, Serious Eats, Allrecipes, and thousands more. Some sites block automated access; if a URL import fails, try copying the recipe text and using the text paste option instead.

My import didn't extract the recipe correctly

You can edit any field on the review screen before saving. If the result is very wrong, try copying just the recipe text (ingredients and method) from the page and pasting it directly โ€” this often gives better results than scraping the full page.

For persistent issues with a specific site, email us at hello@onmenu.recipes with the URL.

Can I share a single recipe, not a whole book?

Currently sharing works at the book level. Create a book for a specific collection (e.g. "Family favourites") and invite others to that book.

How do I delete my account?

Go to the Profile tab and scroll to the bottom โ€” you'll find a "Delete account" option. This permanently deletes your account and all associated recipes within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

If you signed in with Apple and used Sign in with Apple, you should also revoke app access in your Apple ID settings.

Are my recipes backed up?

Yes โ€” all recipes are stored on our servers and synced to your device. If you delete the app and reinstall, sign back in with the same account and your recipes will reappear.

Can I export my recipes?

Data export is not yet available in-app. If you need a copy of your data, email us at hello@onmenu.recipes and we'll provide an export within 30 days in accordance with your privacy rights.

The invite link isn't opening the app

Make sure Onmenu is installed on your device. If the link opens a webpage instead of the app, tap "Open in Onmenu" on that page. If you haven't installed the app yet, the page will direct you to the App Store.
